Title: Surgical anatomy of the arteries of the thoracic and gluteal regions in the context of plastic and reconstructive surgery
Abstract:
The common goal of this dissertation was to examine and analyze the anatomical variations and morphological characteristics of arteries of the thoracic and gluteal regions important in plastic and reconstructive surgery, namely the superior gluteal artery, the inferior gluteal artery, and the thoracoacromial trunk. Ali studies were based on the analysis of computed tomography angiography of the pelvis, chest, and neck. Each artery was visualized along with its branches and the nearby anatomical area. Subseąuently, morphometric measurements of the individual structures were then carried out. The available literaturę lacks detailed anatomical studies of the analyzed vessels in the Polish populalion. The origin of the superior gluteal artery showed a Iow degree of variability, but its branćhing partem was highly variable. A novel classiflcation system for the origin of the inferior gluteal was created, in which the most common point of origin was the anteribr division of the interna! iliac artery (lype 1; 62.3%). Based on the examined morphology and anatomical variations of the thoracoacromial trunk, a new classiflcation system based on the four most common types was created. These studies complement and expand the knowledge, currently available in the literaturę, regarding the aforementioned arteries. Additionally, the visualizations of the types of branches and locations of indi ; vidual arteries, as well as the anatomical map of the thoracoacromial trunk, can be used as a practical tool for specialists, especially in the context of plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures but also for radiologists.
